Not sure what to do after school? Already have something lined up but want to get some real-world experience under your belt? At Slevin Construction, we’re offering Work Experience placements during the summer of 2025 — ideal for anyone curious about a future in construction and keen to learn from a friendly, experienced team.

We’re a well-established construction company based in Aldershot, working on high-quality projects across Surrey and Hampshire. Our work experience programme is a great way to get hands-on with real building work, explore the different roles on a site, and see what a career in construction is really like.

What to expect…

You won’t just be standing on the sidelines — we’ll get you involved in a variety of tasks alongside our experienced team, including:

  • General site labouring
  • Assisting with groundwork
  • Helping with timber framing
  • Supporting bricklaying and plastering teams
  • Learning basic carpentry skills

  • Observing and assisting trades like electricians and plumbers

What you’ll need…

Don’t worry, we know we’ll need to show you the ropes! But, there are a few things from you which will make the experience as great as possible!

  • A genuine interest in construction and how things are built
  • Willingness to learn and get involved
  • Reliable, punctual, and positive attitude
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather
  • Respectful and polite to the team and on-site trades
  • Steel toe cap boots (PPE provided for everything else)
  • Parental or guardian permission if under 18
